This position provides effective legal representation and
handles moderately complex litigation involving either the
corporation and/or its insured within established corporate
guidelines and the applicable code of professional responsibility.

Position Compensation Range: $109,000.00 - $185,000.00 Pay Rate
Type: Salary Compensation may vary based on the job level and your
geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for
eligible candidates. Primary Accountabilities
- Handle litigation involving either the corporation and/or its
insured within established corporate guidelines and the applicable
code of professional responsibility.
- Handle files and issues of a more complex nature with higher
levels of dollar exposure and requiring less oversight. Communicate
with client regarding file status and progress.
- Analyze file as litigation progresses as well as risk to the
company. Evaluate cases and seeks settlement as necessary.
- Draft all necessary pleadings, papers and briefs to advance
litigation activities at the trial or appellate level. Conduct
necessary research in support of drafting activities.
- Advocate client position in all forums (state and federal
court, alternative dispute resolution, administrative tribunals and
regulatory hearings) and circumstances, both formal and
informal.
- Negotiate effectively in the resolution all issues.
- Stay current on state statutes and court decisions and analyzes
how statutes and court decisions affect the interpretation and
enforceability of the various policy provisions.
- May develop areas of specialty practice (e.g. special property,
workers` compensation, environmental law, commercial coverage).
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions,
support or service
- Demonstrated experience preparing civil pleadings, motions and
discovery and deposing witnesses.
- Demonstrated litigation experience.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional
Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practice.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and
insurance law.
- Admitted to the state bar in the state where they are located
or (1) admission to the bar within one year of hire for individuals
who must pass a bar exam or portions of a bar exam to be admitted
or (2) bar admission as soon as practicable but no later than 60
days of hire for individuals with diploma privilege or who are
eligible for in-house counsel registration.
- Juris Doctor Additional Specialized Knowledge & Skills
- Previous in-house trial experience strongly preferred.
- Preferred locations include North Jersey, ideally Bergen,
Essex, Passaic and Union Counties. Travel Requirements
